MJK Training – Booking Terms & Conditions
1. Booking and Payment
- A booking is confirmed once MJK Training has received the required booking/enrolment information and payment, or an agreed purchase order/payment arrangement.
- Unless otherwise agreed in writing, full payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date or before the course commences, whichever is sooner.
- Payment may be made by bank transfer, card, PayPal (where applicable and subject to the stated fee), or cheque.
- Course places are subject to availability and may not be secured until the required payment or agreed confirmation has been received.
2. Pre-Course Learning, Materials and Reminders
- Where a course requires pre-course learning, workbooks, online training, certificates, identification documents or other supporting evidence, these requirements will be communicated to the candidate before the course.
- MJK Training will provide or issue the relevant pre-course materials, joining instructions and guidance within a reasonable period before the course start date.
- Where appropriate, MJK Training may also issue reminder emails or messages regarding outstanding pre-course requirements. These reminders are provided as a courtesy and do not remove the candidate's responsibility to ensure all requirements are completed by the stated deadline.
- Candidates are responsible for reading their joining instructions carefully and completing all required pre-course learning and documentation within the timescale specified.
- For SIA-related training, this may include, where applicable:
- ACT Awareness training;
- ACT Security training;
- Working in the Private Security Industry (WIPSI) or other required distance-learning workbook;
- Emergency First Aid at Work evidence;
- required identification documents; and
- any other pre-course work required by the awarding organisation, qualification specification or MJK Training.
- Unless otherwise stated in the joining instructions, all required pre-course learning, certificates and documentation must be completed and/or submitted no later than 48 hours before the course begins.
- Candidates should contact MJK Training as soon as possible if they have not received their pre-course materials or are experiencing difficulty accessing or completing them.
- Failure to complete or submit the mandatory pre-course learning, certificates, identification or other required documentation by the stated deadline may result in the candidate being refused entry to the course.
- Where a candidate is unable to attend or commence the course because they have failed to meet the mandatory pre-course requirements within the stated timescale, any course fees already paid will be non-refundable.
- Where MJK Training agrees to transfer the candidate to a future course, this will be subject to availability and the applicable rescheduling/transfer fee.
- The issuing of reminder emails or messages by MJK Training does not alter these conditions. It remains the candidate's responsibility to ensure that all mandatory pre-course requirements are completed correctly and on time.
- 3. Cancellations and Refunds
Where a candidate cancels their booking, the following cancellation charges apply:
- 21 days or more before the course: 75% refund.
- 7–21 days before the course: 50% refund.
- Less than 7 days before the course: No refund.
- No refund will normally be provided for non-attendance or failure to attend on the scheduled course date.
- A substitute candidate may be accepted where sufficient written notice is provided and the replacement candidate meets all qualification and pre-course requirements.
- Medical cancellations must be supported by appropriate medical evidence. Where accepted, a £60 administration fee will apply.
- Courses purchased under certain discounted, promotional or special-rate arrangements may be non-refundable where this has been clearly stated at the time of booking.
4. Rescheduling and Transfers
- A candidate may request to postpone or transfer their booking once, provided at least 10 days' notice is given.
- The replacement course must normally take place within 2 months of the original course date, subject to course availability.
- Candidates who arrive too late to meet the required Guided Learning Hours (GLH), fail to provide acceptable identification, or have not completed mandatory pre-course learning may be refused entry to the course.
- Where this results in the candidate needing to transfer to another course, a £150 rescheduling fee may apply.
- Transfers are subject to availability and MJK Training cannot guarantee a particular alternative course date.
5. Attendance and Course Conduct
- Candidates must attend at the times stated within their joining instructions and meet all required attendance and Guided Learning Hour requirements.
- Candidates must bring the required identification, certificates, completed pre-course work and any other documentation specified within their joining instructions.
- Candidates are expected to behave professionally and appropriately towards trainers, staff, other candidates and venue personnel.
- Abusive, threatening, discriminatory, unsafe or seriously disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the course without refund.
- Candidates must follow reasonable health and safety instructions and participate safely in practical training and assessments.
- If MJK Training cancels a course and cannot offer a suitable alternative, course fees paid will be refunded in full.
6. Examinations, Assessments and Re-sits
- Candidates must comply with all examination and assessment requirements set by MJK Training and the relevant awarding organisation.
- SIA qualification re-sit examinations are charged at £50 per unit, unless otherwise stated.
- Re-sits will normally take place on the next suitable scheduled assessment date.
- Where a candidate requests a fast-track, private or out-of-schedule re-sit, an additional £75 fee may apply.
- Re-sit charges for other qualifications may vary depending on awarding organisation fees and assessment requirements.
- Where offered, the Pass Plus option (£30) provides up to two re-sits at dates, times and locations determined by MJK Training and subject to the conditions of the scheme.
7. Liability
- MJK Training will deliver training and assessment with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with applicable awarding organisation requirements.
- MJK Training cannot be held responsible for consequential or indirect losses resulting from cancellation, rescheduling or a candidate's inability to complete a course.
- This may include travel, accommodation, loss of earnings or other associated expenses.
- Candidates are responsible for their personal belongings while attending training.
- Nothing within these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
8. Photography and Promotional Material
- Photographs or video may occasionally be taken during training for legitimate training, evidence or promotional purposes.
- Where images are intended for marketing or promotional use, candidates will be informed and appropriate consent will be obtained where required.
- Candidates who do not wish to appear in promotional photographs or videos should notify MJK Training.
9. Reasonable Adjustments and Additional Support
- Candidates who require a reasonable adjustment, additional learning support or assessment assistance should notify MJK Training as early as possible before the course.
- Reasonable adjustment requests are subject to the rules and approval requirements of the relevant awarding organisation.
- Some arrangements may require supporting evidence and/or prior approval and therefore cannot always be arranged at short notice.
- MJK Training will make reasonable efforts to support candidates while maintaining the integrity and requirements of the qualification and assessment process.
10. Acceptance of Terms
By making a booking, submitting an enrolment/booking form, making payment or accepting a confirmed course place, the candidate or booking organisation confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
Candidates are also responsible for reading all joining instructions, pre-course information and subsequent course reminders issued by MJK Training.
Failure to read a reminder email or message does not remove the requirement to complete mandatory pre-course learning or provide required documentation by the specified deadline.
